The Bundeswehr is taking part in the NATO manoeuvre ‘Steadfast Noon’ again this year. This exercise teaches how to attach US nuclear weapons to German fighter jets and drop them. Coming from Japan, we know the tragedy of nuclear bombs very well and say a firm no to nuclear sharing and demand the immediate withdrawal of all nuclear weapons from Germany (and everywhere)!

Nuclear weapons not only destroy people but also the earth. The suffering caused by nuclear bombs is enduring. As early as 1996, the International Court of Justice said: ‘the threat or use of nuclear weapons would generally be contrary to international law applicable to armed conflicts, particularly humanitarian law’. Why should we have weapons that violate international law at all? That is why we are calling for accession to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons!
Stop nuclear war!
The nuclear sharing in Germany has been justified to deter “the threat of Russia”. Likewise in Japan, the new prime minister Ishiba now considers nuclear sharing with the USA against “the threat of China and DPRK”. We as people must not internalize this new cold-war logic and act to stop the vicious cycle of escalation. Otherwise we will face endless wars and eventual extermination.
We see one of the most gruesome instances of such war in Gaza and now in Lebanon. Israel has been increasingly attacking its neighboring countries with staunch support of nuclear powers. We must not forget that Germany is directly complicit with the ongoing genocide by providing political and military support to Israel. (The situation in the region is escalating…)

Israel must not use nuclear weapons and must immediately dismantle them. It must stop its aggression toward its neighbors and agree to a ceasefire immediately.
